Cost of Attendance
The cost of attendance establishes average costs for different categories and is the basis for determining your financial need for 鈥渘eed-based鈥 grants, loans, and work-study as well as limits to borrowing PLUS and private loans. You may spend more or less than the amounts listed on the Cost of Attendance page.

Additional Fees
Fees are subject to change, but can be viewed in the academic catalog located at the Registrar’s site.
Enrollment Confirmation Fee
A one-time $100 is required of all full-time, undergraduate students in order to register for classes and reserve aid awards.
Student Teaching Fees
Student teaching fees are an additional $50 per credit hour. KICA special education courses incur additional charges.
Nursing Clinical Fee
The Nursing Clinical Fee is currently $2,570. See the Nursing Student Handbook for additional fees.
Health Insurance
Overload Fee
An overload fee for hours in excess of 18 is an additional $430 per credit hour.聽 Activity-based courses such as varsity athletics, choir, band, orchestra, music lessons, forensics, debate and theatre are excluded from overload charges.
Other Fees
Graduation Fee: $300
Private Music Lessons: $300
Athletic Insurance Fee: $150 (assessed to all student-athletes once a year, both graduate and undergraduate)
Purchasing Textbooks
Allow approximately $600 per semester for books and supplies.
Textbooks for your classes are available for purchase from . There are聽two methods to聽know what textbooks you will need for each class:
- Log on to your myKWU account. On the left side of the main page, you will see a link titled 鈥淢Y COURSES鈥. Click on this link to see information about your course, your professor and learn about your textbook(s) and other required course materials. Write down your course numbers, text ISBN and edition number.
- Go to www.kwu.edu and click on 鈥淏uy Textbooks鈥.聽 You will be taken to the KWU E-Campus.聽 There, search for your course numbers to find your texts鈥櫬 ISBN and edition numbers.聽 You can also purchase or rent your textbooks at that site.聽 See 鈥淏ook Vouchers鈥 below.聽 You are welcome to buy/rent your textbooks where you can find the best value, but Book Vouchers can only be used at kwu.ecampus.com.
Using Book Vouchers or Financial Assistance Award to Pay for Textbooks
If your total financial assistance award for the term is greater than your charges, you are entitled to a 鈥淐redit Balance,” which you can use as a 鈥淏ook Voucher鈥 issued by the Office of Financial Aid.
